Atama Ga Warui: New Changes

If you have been here before, then you will immediately notice that I have made some drastic changes to the blog. Needless to say, this blog has, for the most part, been a complete failure. Changes in my lifestyle and time spent made it so, but that isn’t the whole story.

When I started it last summer with a younger online comrade of mine, I had every intention of making this blog something special and respectable with his help. Unfortunately, as time went on, unexpected limitations to the net and lack of overall symmetry with our anime viewing soon began eroding my desire to not only write about Japanese visual culture, but also to bother putting in effort on this blog if my comrade could not. So, I left this place alone, but kept watching anime when I could.

However, when mid 2008’s summer rolled around, I began to get fed up with much of my plans being left unfinished and my time being wasted doing things that could be done later. I was still an anime otaku, but had become VERY quiet about it because of how busy I was (and still am). Soon after a few realizations, I began taking bounds to really move and do what I love and even put aside my online chatting so I could experience freedom to think and do. Because of my rekindled joy for anime, Atama Ga Warui has been thrown into this equation of rehabilitation.

So what exactly are these changes?

I wrote my first episode review yesterday evening on a new Fall anime, ToraDora. I haven’t written a complete review in probably over half a year and never have reviewed a single episode before. Honestly, writing for Anime-Source.com had made me deathly afraid and self-conscious about my writing, which is part of the reason why I quit. When I made up my mind to break free of trying to fit into a cookie cutter opinion when writing a review, I could have fun with it like I used to. These are also much bite-sized and easier to bring my thoughts to the table, which is what I need to get back my former self. Hopefully this will be something visitors can come to expect from this blog.

As I said before, I rarely see my co-writer online anymore, and my gaming contributor is dealing with life issues. So, both are now out of the picture. I’m writing for this blog myself. The new layout is meant to bring a more professional feel to Atama Ga Warui without all the bright colors and moe distractions. Really, I want visitors to feel like they can take me seriously and feel comfortable commenting on the things I write. A fresh look also means fresh beginnings; wiping the slate clean and clearing my head for better writing. In the end, I don’t expect anything from anyone, just like you should only expect the minimum from me as a 22-year old workaholic.
